Day of the Dead: Grammy

October 31, 2008 at 8:00 am (grammy morehouse, Poem) ()

This day, you are standing close
but I do not feel your chill.
I feel the sun’s attenuated warmth
spill down on my scalp and shoulders.

It occurs to me -
it took a blanket of earth,
silver-laced in frost,
to thaw my heart toward you.
